在发动机轻改方面，很多人都会对点火系统进行改动。首先想到的就是更换高性能火花塞，但当更换火花塞之后，如果点火线没能跟上，提供不了足够的电压也是枉然。所以说，改装点火线也是发动机点火系统改装的重要一环。 点火线，英文为Ignition Coil，又叫做分火线、分缸线、点火线圈。主要是负责分配点火顺序，把分电器预先分配好的高压电传递到火花塞使汽缸内部点燃的一种传递介质。按照发动机的缸数决定点火线的条数，每一条点火线的一侧是连接带有点火线圈的火花塞，另外一侧连接着分火器。不同的点火线有着不同的线芯，一般有铜芯和炭精芯，同时，不同的车辆，其点火线会有不同的长度。不同的火花塞其接线端也会有所不同。 材质结构，一般的汽车点火线采用硅胶绝缘技术，使用温度在-40-220摄氏度，比较大承受电压为35kV。线芯多采用硅胶导体，电阻比较稳定。从线芯结构上看，点火线有单线芯、3线芯、4线芯和5线芯等。线芯越多其电阻也就先对较小、点火强度也就相应的高，但线芯太多，也就会导致电流过大，所以会对点火线的包装和屏蔽的材料有着特殊的要求。
